“Hubban” performed by Fadhel al-Kankouni.
“Hubban” means bagpipes in Persian, and it is the name of the instrument, as well as the name of the dance, which is also called the handkerchief dance.
Hubban are played at weddings and celebrations. It is originally from southern Iran in what is called Fars, and it is usually played in open spaces. Hubban (bagpipe) music is influenced by African, Persian, Indian and neighboring Arab music. This night will include different types of traditional and local music, including Khayyali, Dasmali, Khumairi, Saheb, Liwa, and Tahani.
