The opening of the exhibition, “Between Two Art Objects: The Emergence of Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah”, today, 15 December 2025. Held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Sabah Khaled al-Hamad al-Sabah, Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait and in the presence of H.E. Abdulrahman Baddah Al-Mutairi, Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, and H.E. Dr. Mohammad Khaled Al-Jassar, Secretary-General of the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters. This exhibition honors the intellectual curiosity of the late Sheikh Nasser Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah (1948–2020), whose collection inspired the establishment of Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah. Anchored by two key objects—a Mamluk glass vessel acquired in 1975 and an Umayyad bronze ewer added in 2020—the exhibition traces the institution’s journey over five decades. Sheikha Hussa Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah highlights how the two objects reflect Sheikh Nasser’s vision of preserving cultural heritage while sharing it globally, a mission Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah continues through exhibitions, research, and public programmes under the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters.⁩
