Dining with the Sultan: The Fine Art of Feasting

The exhibition Dining with the Sultan: The Fine Art of Feasting is the first to explore Islamic art within the frame of its culinary traditions. Curated by Linda Komaroff and organized by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), it features over 250 works from public and private collections across the world. The exhibition celebrates gourmet culture in Islamic courts. Objects on display include recipe manuscripts, tableware, and dining apparel. The al-Sabah Collection, Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyah, Kuwait loaned thirteen objects including serving spoons, ceramic bowls, and a folio from a book that dates back to 1315 AD. The exhibition is open from December 17, 2023 to August 4, 2024.
